the secret letters i've read! 0_0

hahaah, just kidding.
so, this is the 3rd book i've read on Q. Marie Antoinette. for those of you who have seen "Marie Antoinette", starring kirsten dunst and directed by sophia coppola, there couldn't be
anything much further from the truth. sophia coppola made her film based on what SHE wanted to believe (centuries old rumored clichés). that movie with kirsten dunst was trash, made me want to puke and I couldn't finish watching it - had NO substance what-so-ever.
i think the movie is great for people who don't care for history's accuracy and only care to love & hear juicy gossip though. again, not for me. made me want to puke.

above, a look inside the book - and one of my favorite pages.
the concept of this book is pretty neat, it's literally reading someone's personal journal in the form of letters between mother/daughter/advisor to the queen of france from 200 years ago. if anyone wants to borrow, please let me know! i'd be happy to lend it out :)

even though the author, olivier bernier, detests q. marie antoinette, he still sticks with historical facts (all of q. marie antoinette's letters between her mother, empress maria therese of austria; and her advisor, mercy are all documented in this book.) first published in 1985 (i was 9!), i believe it is now out of print. you do hear his chilly distaste for q. marie antoinette in his commentary, but still, it's wonderful when an author states all facts to allow the reader to come up with his own conclusion, rather than influencing what their conclusion should be...
